The holidays are upon us and just as exciting as opening gifts and seeing joyful smiles are the meet ups with old friends and the endless holiday parties that I am sure you have been invited to. So what are you waiting for? Pick your dress, grab your shoes and bag and put on your make up because you have a party to attend. But… what to wear? Dress or blouse with pants? Too formal or not? Flashy or trashy? This or That? Confused and stressed? Don’t be, we are here to the rescue! Here are little tips to stand out at your holiday parties. For inspiration, here are a few trendy looks for women.
- 1. Holiday/New Year’s Dress
What I love about Holidays is you could wear anything. You could be Santa on your Holiday parties or be an elf or just wear something colorful. What would be the most colorful thing other than fireworks? What I love about this dress is being colorful but not too colorful, do you get what I mean? Its fireworks and that is what this season is all about. It is great for Christmas and more so to ring in the new year! It can be paired with heels or pumps. A simple pair of earrings and necklace if you want is all this dress needs to bring the fireworks into the party. This is a holiday dress with other varieties under $20 so you will not have to break the bank
2. Ugly Sweater
One thing is certain. The sweater can be ugly - You don't have to be! So let's dress this ugly sweats up!
Ugly sweaters come alive with accessories - the first being your big and confident smile. Then for guys, a nice pair of jeans or slacks depending on how formal or otherwise the even is. For gals, the heels and boots all the way! Dont forget the hair and make up too.
- 3. Du Jour Off Shoulder Romper
I don’t know about you guys but I think this romper is classy. I could wear it either casual or formal. Yes, formal! Gone are the days when long dresses are just for formal parties, nowadays, you could wear short dresses for formal parties too! You can look at the red carpets! My only rule is just make sure the fabric is not too thin. You can wear it with heels or sandals. if you have nice legs, this is the time to flaunt them. Get some heels! having an additional 2 inches on your height will really make a statement and girl, this season is all about making statements -with our entrance and demise. You can pair this baby with studs or an earring with a simple bling. A simple but classy necklace is all this needs so you are not over the top.You can also do a messy updo on your hair to make it a little bit sexier (if it isn’t already sexy enough for you). Curl your hair or a clean pony tail will do or for natural sistas, a “I woke up like this” kinda messy-sexy hairdo will set you up to take over the night. Let your accessories do the talking and your romper will be the canvas for all the bling. If you want something more formal, this classy navy blue eyelet shirt dress will be the perfect pick with some heels, you are good to go!
- 4. G.I.L.I. Cold Shoulder Cable Knit Sweater
- For the more casual look for your holiday parties. - a nice dinner with family or friends. Sure you really don’t want to show off anything. It is just a nice dinner right? Well then this is the look for you. It is simple but sexy, Nice but different, Cozy and comfy, subtle yet captivating look. This top is a blend of comfortable and fashionable in one breath. A pair of jeans would be the perfect partner for this and a closed sandal will make it a bit edgy but comfortable if you really are on the path of being comfortable but please don’t wear it with rubber slippers. Girl, don’t kill this look please! If you want a little sexy, a block heeled bootie will be fine and a lot more sexy? some knee high boots will have people singing the “who’s that girl” song. You won’t need a bracelet so don’t bother wearing one. A nice ring can do the trick if you really want to accessorize your hands.
5. Skirt it Up!
Here is another bonus for you guys! If you don’t want to wear a dress but need to go formal. A skirt will do with a fine top of course. This plaid midi skirt could do something about your dilemma I think it is lovely and has character. I would pair it with a simple fitted black top,(especially if you are like me and need to hide a few bulges in the mid section) a pair of earrings and a nice statement necklace. It will go well with heels, pumps preferably. Don’t use it with ballet /flat shoes since this is a midi skirt, an additional height is needed to give it the head turning second look.
I hope that this helps you find your best outfit for this Holiday season. Whatever you wear, match it up with your smile and confidence and make sure you enjoy every moment of the outing/s.
